Currently it has:
- Voron Tap carriage and z-probe
- StealthBurner toolhead
- Galileo2 extruder
- EBB SB2209 (RP2040) CAN board + umbilical
- Sensorless x/y homing
- Revo Voron hotend
- Klipper/Mainsail on an Rpi with a BTT Octopus v1 in the base, if it matters
We want to switch to:
- XOL carriage
- A4T toolhead
- Wrist Watch Galileo2 extruder
- Cartographer z-probe
- EBB 36 CAN board
- …keep the umbilical, Revo hotend and rpi/oct stuff the same, re-use the G2E hardware to build the WWG2
We’re sick of the Tap but we’re trying to re-use as much hardware as possible to keep costs down. It’s just always a little unclear where problems will pop up… I’ve read that Cartographer should work with the EBB 36 board. The A4T configurator has options for EBB 36 and Revo Voron, so those all seem compatible. The XOL carriage has an option for attaching the cartographer, so that seems alright too. Does everything else seem compatible here?
Secondarily, it’s also a little unclear which .stl files from which repos we should actually print. The A4T has that configurator which helps a lot, but the WWG2 and the XOL carriage don’t, afaik.

That would definitely be less work and money, true… Just reprint the normal StealthBurner carriage I guess? Does that have a mount for eddy probes?
A quick search turned up an “official” CNC mount for cartographer and stealth burner. There are also instructions covering another mount, but I didn’t spend much time looking at them.
If you’re comfortable with CAD it shouldn’t be hard to model a mount that uses the klicky attachment points on the stock SB carriage. I found an existing model that looks like it does exactly this.
That CNC option is looking very appealing. Particularly considering that the TAP carriage isn’t all that different from the stock SB one and I hate it lol
It does, I have a carto on stealthburner, you have to print the specific carriage with mounts, another option is to use carto’s CNC carriage, which I’ve heard is good.
I’m not super happy with the carto to be honest, I originally had many problems and destroyed 2 expensive printing plates. Seems to have stabilized now, but I’ve bought a beacon for my next build.
Oh geez! That’s definitely ominous… I woulda opted for the Beacon in the first place, but AFAIK it doesn’t do CANbus, right? When did you get your carto? Really hope they ironed out the problems since then!
Idk over a year ago. They released a new firmware but it doesn’t work so they advise using the previous one. Yeah not a great look, but well, lately it’s been behaving.
And no, beacon doesn’t do CANBus, that’s why the next build will also sport a nitehawk, probably on an Anthead.
