Don’t worry. We never had free speech. Here, watch: kill Trump and save us all. Ban in 3, 2, 1…

You do know that freedom of speech protects you from government sanctions for speech, right? Last I checked the Fediverse wasn’t the government. So the moderators and admins here are free to say: “we don’t want you here” and ban you and nobodies freedom of speech was hurt.

Private organisations could always exclude you from their premise, same as you are free to exclude them from your premise. That’s called house rules.

How long can we enjoy this era of federated spaces can get away with whatever because they’re too small for world governments to give a shit?

I’m guessing until Ai bots can start correlating who is who based on ip and fingerprinting en-masse, but even then, it won’t be everybody, and we’d just move to a “use TOR/I2P” suggestion on every instance.

I usually get banned for calling for the death of the fascist Trump… but if the rules have changed, I’m fine with that.

Nah, assassinations tend to have poor political outcomes. It creates martyrs and draws more to follow the cause, while excusing more extreme retribution. Political violence is more effective when targeting the systems that support the oppression.

I’m just hoping for a stroke that gives him locked in syndrome for a few years so he can experience hell on earth in case Dante’s hell doesn’t exist.

Thompson was a supporter and part of the system, not a leader. Background people like him are a crap shoot. They can get lionized or demonized depending on who can get the narrative out better.
