think, for a moment: if they had the ability, wouldn’t they still be exporting?
“Russia imposed a gasoline exports ban for oil producers on July 28 in a bid to prevent shortages at a time of peak demand because of summer travel and grain harvesting. But some market participants said this will not be enough to avert a fuel crunch.”
I make no assumptions on who you are, I only judge based on the reality we’re seeing on the ground and the halting of exports when they desperately need the funds. I know this does not necessarily discount shadow fleet economics but it cannot be helping the situation either. I think, in this case, it’s more important to judge the reality on the ground than the reality 10 months ago.
What ever on earth makes you think they are halting exports, especially of crude? I can show you on a map where they are and where they came from right now.
Just because they have l local shortages doesn’t mean they have stopped exports.
When you buy crude/products you often put it into storage, sometimes large amounts, and wait for the market to bounce up (or your other forward positions/hedging to clear). The crude and products exist: they are just not being used in the local market. In the case of Russia, to maintain funding for their war time economy.
Whatever, if you actually want info, DM me, I’ll connect on LinkedIn and share images and docs.
we’re just talking past each other. you’re focus on crude exports continues to miss my point:
they ain’t got no gas in half the country. you don’t need to explain the fuel production cycle, crude’s a shit export compared to refined fuels and when you have gas lines stretching miles, people don’t give a fuck how much crude’s being exported by the shadow fleet of temu-tankers russia has falling apart all over the fuckin’ oceans.
I don’t want to dm you, I don’t want to continue talking about crude production or export because that’s not what I’m talking about, I’m talking about fuel available to ivan q ivanovich and how long the country can suffer without a stable supply of fuel to burn.
you can produce oceans of crude, if none of it gets refined and put into the tanks at gas stations, lot of fucking good it’ll do you.
don’t worry, I don’t care.
cool chart. how’s that jive with the miles-long lines for gas?

10 months later, I still posit: they’ve drained the reserves they used to keep civilian petrol flowing.
