And if I really really really wanted one in my browser (which I don’t but for the sake of argument) I’ll look for an add-on.
Same reason I don’t want my browser to filter or ban my content but I totally use unlock origin.
Especially if you’re new to reading, the books worth reading are the ones you enjoy reading.
Like anything else reading is a skill and you get better at it the more you do it. There’s a reason we don’t start kindergarteners on Tolstoy and Shakespeare.
There are great suggestions in this thread so I’m not going to suggest any more. But I’d recommend to start every new book with an open mind, but if you’re not “feeling it” by page 10 or 20 it’s 100% okay to put it down and try a different one.
You can always come back to it later. Or not. There are more “must read” books than can ever be read in a lifetime. Find the ones you enjoy and which make an impact on you.
Most likely scenario in my opinion too.
Yeah I’m going to show my age here. But I’ve migrated from fidonet (bbs days) to Usenet. To slashdot. To digg. To Reddit. To Lemmy. And I’m 100% positive one day I’ll migrate again.
Forums evolve and change. And once it changes go find your tribe again. Your peeps will still be out there especially this kinda tech leaning crowd.
I’ve stopped worrying about it. Humans are going to human.
Tell me more about avocado lungs…
Not a defender of them but they have specific plantations for growing the fuel just for this. So the idea is that it’s a closed loop. Carbon is captured from the air as the trees grow and then that very same carbon is burnt for energy generation. So no extra carbon is added to the atmosphere when you consider the whole cycle.
Compare with coal and gas where carbon is dug up from under the ground and added to the atmosphere and never removed again.
What if the couch consented?
Must be nice having one or those free computers running on free electricity with free internet.
I like your style man.
Instead of closing an app, shutdown the phone. Now it’s a pain to reopen the app.
I’ve heard from someone in the military that they teach you to scan from right to left and bottom to top if you have to stand watch/guard.
It probably stops your brain from going on autopilot.
Time for a Battle Royale!
What has Monty Python ever done for us?
And that nobody… Cambridge Analytica!
I mean this was the whole point of the X prize and the private space race, right? Create competition to lower costs.
What’s that in imperial shitloads?
Yeah I was just in Utah for business and didn’t even realise there was a block. I didn’t go to pornhub but all my regular sites just worked. 🤷♂️🍆
That’s untrue. I specifically bought it for h265 decoding. Which it does have in hardware. I play h265 content exclusively and never had an issue. Even 80~100mbps blue ray UHD rips. And because it has gigabit ethernet there’s never any buffering issues either from my NAS.
Not VMs but I have way more docker containers. I run most things as containers which keeps the base OS nice and clean and free from dependency hell.
