  • Very interesting, I wasn’t aware of specifics. Obviously I don’t think it’s impossible, but I would think that the grand majority don’t, while this bootleg technique would have a higher rate of creating worse problems for people already suffering and essentially sealing their fate.

We need to tackle big pharma for the problem it is: greed and neglect and I don’t think a pirated solution will make that in any way better for people.

Maybe it does for some but hurts others worse. Which is the same coin as big pharma but worse for some. That’s my perspective, but I hope that an open-source style solution would gain more traction rather than one that’s essentially just ripped music.

    People deserve to be healthy

  • All these comments about adblockers - you’re truly naive if you think those are going to last in any capacity.

Chrome/Edge are already going to be neutering the majority of the functionality with manifest v3.

Firefox is already starting to see some commercialization/enshitification with this new exec. Adblocker days are numbered. Soon they’ll be streaming the ads in-line with the videos everywhere and you’ll need to have a special hacked up rig just to content filter and be forced to sit in silence for X minutes.

Just because the problem is at your neighbors house, doesn’t mean it won’t come to yours.

  • Again, I can agree with the sentiment that it seems like most won’t change, but to give up altogether is to give up on those that would’ve changed too. In favor of what? Watching more tv? Playing more games? It costs next to nothing to be vocal and educated when using social media.

We don’t need to convince everyone of the truth and of reality and tolerance. Just one person is enough for me.

“It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness”

We have a moral imperative to enlighten those who are ignorant in direct alignment with humanities shared pursuit of truth and of happiness. We owe it to the people who inspired us to continue that tradition. In fact, we only are improving our own understanding of Truth by teaching and speaking with others and challenging those ideas. Maybe someone else will inspire us to tweak something and move our collective progress closer to enlightenment

  • That is the most nihilistic and ignorant statement I’ve ever heard in my life tbh

You’re generalizing hundreds of thousands of people and essentially saying “my vote doesn’t matter”

I’m saying this not to be a dick, but because I care about my species - you sound like you’re in a very negative headspace and I’m not sure that’s going to be very valuable for you for much longer. You’re generalizing hundreds of thousands of people to one stereotype and assuming that any and all labor towards educating or advocating isn’t worth it.

Fuck that. Defeatist bullshit is for the defeated, and last I checked, battle is still going. I sincerely hope you are only affected by and not perpetuating defeatist logic into the global population.

  • I was just expressing that I believe shallow politicians can exist on both sides, and do to some extent. Not drawing any specific statistics. To be clear, that means I’m also not saying both sides exhibit this characterization at an equal rate of occurrence, just that it is and has been happening on both sides.

Politicians, like it or not and regardless of party lines, sometimes are just in it for the power and the glory.

Again, this doesn’t happen at an equal rate on both sides, and I’m sure it does happen at a disproportionate rate, but it’s an overall problem that comes with positions of power and authority that I think should be tackled outside of party-specific focus. You could argue burning houses as rationale to target, but if there’s fires in both houses and you’re able to, you should take both out or the other will be just as bad at some point.
