One scenario is a speeding car is coming up behind the car trailing. You can’t see it and it can’t see you. You merge into the lane just as the speeder enters it to pass and you get rear-ended.

I’m saying they could corner the market on components they can manufacture by banning export of the raw resources they control. Threatening rare earth metal exports was how they got Trump to heel.
I’m a slow driver, at or slightly below the speed limit. My tips for not pissing people off:
Use your cruise control/maintain speed. People can get used to whatever speed you’re at, but if you keep changing your speed, they’ll keep accelerating into it and slamming on the brakes.
When the road opens up nice and straight with clear visibility, for fucks sake, DO NOT SPEED UP (see: 1), even though it feels natural to do so. There’s a line of cars behind you that have been waiting for the dotted yellow line to pass you–and where you feel like it’s safe to go faster is usually where they put those dotted lines.
You just eliminated a traffic hazard
… by creating a traffic hazard.
I’ve been taking the bus to work some days and the emotional difference between riding bumpers for 30 minutes and being on the bus listening to tunes and reading for 50 is noticeable. I miss the bus on days when I take the car in.
Insurance actuaries agree: men are worse drivers.

They don’t even want us to have a post office, you think they’re going to let us get rid of way to siphon off a solid percentage of every transaction?

What if they decide to just keep their rare earth metals for themselves and control the entire market?

I was a terminal redditors for over a decade and that last year or two I was getting site-wide bans at an accelerating rate. I’m off there to avoid a permaban and I’ll only post there if I need a question answered no other way.
I’ve been on Lemmy for 19 days so far and feel like it scratches whatever pseudo-social itch Reddit scratched before; even though the communities aren’t as niche, the community and moderation isn’t so consistently obnoxious.

You know, god bless the bots because they’re probably soaking up at least some watts of surveillance.
Take all that “Driving Drunk is Bad, guys” advertising space and use it for something that people don’t already know…
Until the update that bricks the car unless it can consistently recognize a face.
Buying a new car in 2026 is a risky proposition with no horizon.

Cell phones in Japan must have an audible shutter sound. Pretty sure turning down the volume isn’t enough to silence it.
No, I get it, the problem the way we’ve chosen to build society, but now that it is the way it is, judges and juries are reluctant to ban someone from working and buying groceries for anything less than a prison sentence…
Like it’s pretty crazy to me that the State (USA) can seize you car if you transport drugs with it, but not if yoU literally run over a human being. People with multiple violations and triple-suspended licenses still get to keep their cars.
What’s worse is that WAY too many people have no option BUT to drive
That’s exactly why it’s treated as a right. Can’t drive?Can’t live.

Most people only know about Puerto Rican day from the episode of Seinfeld that aired exactly once before being pulled for desecrating the island’s flag.

I think y’all are underestimating Pedro Pascal’s woman fanbase.

Yeah, the story of an attractive, emotionally sensitive guy raising a child alone in a harsh world is like marketing poison to women. /s
Yup. If you’re extra paraoid, get some air-txght buckets, fill them with beans and don’t tell anyone you have them until you have a gun.
