I checked and this does a similar thing. You can use WG to punch out a connection, and I have before. The linked program uses quic in a similar way to WG but doesn’t do any of the routing, just registers the connection to a hostname for application level forwarding.

It looks more that it provides an easy setup for an alternative.

Both methods can work on cg-nat as well since you are punching out.

We have had success with this on port 443 and it appears to do a good job on networks that only allow browsing. Usual problems with TCP based VPN still apply.

No it will be to do with federation, you’re on the same instance as the community so will always get it as part of your pool of posts. No one on my instance has a sub to it so I don’t see any posts for it.

It’ll be the same reason as for me I think, no one on shit just works has subbed to it, so nothing is federated to your instance.

I saw this on a few sysadmin posts, from what I saw and what people described I have a theory that it was an unexpected interaction.

Those with the deletion had a expiration date for the donation licenses past the July '26 deadline. That shouldn’t have happened as far as I can tell from the notification email. We had some of these, but I think the difference was the presence of other licenses.

Those with only the 10 donations and none of the other free licenses, would have become unlicensed when they were removed. There is a cool off for deletions, but if the licence had the wrong expiration, then the deadline date might have been set from the original expiration. Due to the incorrect extension that date might then have been in the past. Leading to the wrong deletions.

I have no way to confirm any of that and ms are not going to admit it. I don’t think it was malicious, but is still a appalling show from Microsoft.

I would avoid giving it internet access. You could probably get away with network access, but id still mainly restrict it to a disconnected network and just download anything you need for it from a modern machine. (Probably a shared nas for transfer.) If you’ve got a good router (ie not a isp or home router) you could give it access to specific items on a whitelisting basis.
