Nah, 13th century was too decentralised. It’s before the development of absolutism, nationionalism, and then totalitariansm. They are more going for late 1930s Italy/Germany style.

I think a lot of people start on Lemmy.world and lemmy.ml but then overtime switch to other instances they made alts on. I think it’s a cool way that things work and centralisation gets avoided.

Yep, just really important to stress it’s a massive oversimplification — but that oversimplification is suprisingly accurate. Maybe like how newtonian mechanics is a massive oversimplification of how the world works but is suprisingly good at predicting things.
