I was about to say. I haven’t seen a YouTube ad in a decade between uBlock and Vanced. The updates are immediate.

Only thing is he is very aware of this and has since stopped posting content like that, nearly a decade ago, and has removed any of it from his channel, and never talks about it.
He went overboard, seemingly realized his screw up, and stopped with the gun crap. I wouldn’t be following him if he was still posting the gun stuff, but that was even before I found him in 2017.
Unlike a lot of those kind of gun people, he at least seems self aware. Again, this is only since I’ve started watching his content in 2017. No idea how had it was prior to that.

I thought VR would be more widespread by now.
And it’s probably because of the two next things I thought as well.
I thought it would be cheaper and easier to do by now. More like a Google Glass kind of thing. But we’re still playing 4 figures for dedicated massive headsets to strap to our heads. No wonder it didn’t take off.
And I mean dedicated like the HTC Vive. Not the Quest.
I don’t often notice my typos,
But when do, it’s after a day and a ton of interaction with said comment.

And on that note, the Commodore X16 from The 8 Bit Guy is built from the ashes of what would have been a C64 successor, post 128. Documentation available is extensive. Of course, it doesn’t ship with a spiral bound manual, so I guess it doesn’t even apply, but, ya know. It’s a cool little thing to tinker with.
My girlfriend and I managed to get it to a 3 week rotation. Turns out living in a city is exhausting, so we try to go out as little as possible.
Whereas my mom will go out every day to buy groceries to make dinner that night. That may be the difference between being bored and retired and being, whatever tf I am.

Sure, but if they’re boomers and still couldn’t make it, I’m not sure what the issue was. The generation that took everything and then pulled the ladder up behind them should be stable in the modern day.
I’m really not trying to be an asshole here, but my experience with this is my girlfriend’s dad. A boomer who lives in his car. He lost his six figure job in the late 90s and then did nothing. He made no effort. He was a horrible father. My girlfriend’s mother died and he STILL never picked his life back up. And now he’s just become a nuisance in our lives. I have absolutely no sympathy for people like that.
Whereas my parents, also boomers of the same age, are retired and looking at finding their final home. All you had to do was keep doing what you’re doing.
Whereas us, now, that’s not good enough, anymore.
It is very hard for me for feel sympathy for the generation that got everything, when my friends and I are struggling to exist, and with decent jobs.

Yep, that’s also one of the reasons I came here. This feels like old reddit. I like the plethora of apps that are fully customizable, also like the old days of reddit. It really was a great time until it wasn’t. This community is much more open. Transparency here is a wonderful thing, something that reddit lost a long time ago.

I can help you spoof the API and get your favorite third party app going again, if you really want. I was using RIF up until a few weeks ago. Still works too, I just got banned and decided it wasn’t worth it to start over.

Well, I guess to be completely honest with you guys
I got banned from reddit after 13+ years and over half a million comment karma. Same username if you want to go take a trip.
There was a post in the game collecting sub and the guy, a European, had a MAGA hat in the background. People were going back and forth, as they do. One guy then says that a European having a MAGA hat as a novelty souvenir is fine. To which I responded, Nazis only belong 6 feet under. I was slightly worried that a simpleton may interpret it as a threat, but I figured there’s no way someone with common sense and critical thinking skills would think that.
Well, of course this one hit a little close to home to the admins, big surprise, and I was permanently banned. 13 years and 500,000 points later, I get banned for saying nazis deserve to be dead.
Honestly, I’m not surprised given how the site was going. Posts being removed, comments being deleted. That used to happen back in the day but never to the degree that it is happening now.
My only chuckle on the way out is knowing I modified the reddit API to use third party apps long after they were shut down.
I do wish this place was a bit more active, but it’s still pretty good. It’s not like I don’t have alts on reddit anyway. My only regret was not selling my account for a ton of money before it got banned. Oh well lol
Environmental consulting. It’s a lot of office work, but there is still field work that can fall outside of the normal hours, but usually not by much.

Do they… do they know what the C in CES stands for?
Monday through Friday, 9 to 5. My ADHD thrives on a normal fixed schedule. Emergency field work is always a mental exercise.

GTA VI will be delayed again.

This was my issue. The two times I posted real, actual questions that I needed help with, and tried to provide as much detail as possible while saying I didn’t understand the subject,
I got clowned on, immediately downvoted negative, and got no actual help whatsoever. Now I just hope someone else had a similar issue.

The only game like this I really play is Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket. I refuse to pay real money, so I get two packs a day. It’s good for a 15 minute burst of… not quite dopamine, and then you’re off.
Similarly, Pokémon Quest is a game that falls exactly into this category with a charge system that depletes after every short level and reacharges once per hour, to a max of 5 in the beginning. I played it when new and then just recently went back and played it quite heavily, again. That is until I accidently undid something that took me a week of RNG to get, so I quit.
Generally, I hate the mobile game charge system, though. At that point, I’d rather just pay for a full version. And paying for charges is not the same thing.
Basically never now, thankfully. My old job would send me out to the field where a lot of the day was spent waiting for things to happen. Luckily those things often involved loud noises, so I’d be woken up and didn’t miss anything.
For more context, I work for an environmental company where part of our work is overseeing the importing and exporting of soil (dirt) and stone (rocks) from jobsites. Depending on where in the state you are, it could be a 3 hour round trip from the jobsite to the quarry/landfill. I’d bring a folding chair, or just sit in my car near where the loading/unloading was.
For import, the dump trucks would roll in and then just dump their whole load. The noise came from the tailgate slamming shut after the entire truck was emptied. It would wake me up every time.
Then for export, a bulldozer would be dumping rocks, concrete, or soil into a dump truck. That was usually pretty loud itself which would wake me up.
According to the weekly dump logs (lol), I never missed a truck.

I would hold things up to the landline phone in an attempt to show my grandparents things.
Funnily enough, the future came full circle.

Reminds me of the time I walked into my room and my computer, without asking me, was in the middle of updating from Windows 7 to Win10. I took my chances and unplugged it from the wall. Nothing bad happened, thankfully. Then I went in there and removed any notion of Windows Update I could find, short of removing the physical bits from my SSD lol
If I had done 64 instead of 32, I’d seriously be considering selling 32GB to upgrade my GPU right now.
