Yeah… but doing what? Like a “filler” to me isn’t specifically about an episode following an individual character. You can do that and not be “filler”. If such an episode is in aid of furthering the overall plot of the show, giving the viewer wider context of how the character falls into it, showing their motivations etc. A character filler episode here is where the outcome of the episode essentially doesn’t matter, and it’s just done as a kind of break from the season/serial plot. Like Carol chasing rats and Daryl fixing his motorbike during those COVID era episodes of TWD.
That would be really out of place in Dark and would be just be whiplash.
Sorry, yes, excluding the off-instance examples. Although they’re pretty much dead. There’s way more random disorganised/abandoned tv/movie communities across lemmy.
Okay, so I’m the guy who set up television@lemm.ee. My instinct would be to say that the “TV” side should all come under that just because of the name being more intuitive. I was sorta surprised “Television” wasn’t taken. I do realise also this community is quite a bit larger than my community.
The history of this seems a bit odd as the name is technically “showsandmovies” yet it’s been repurposed to be about television, or was instantly edited to become about TV/streaming. But that’s my bit.
I haven’t a clue what to do with “moviesandtv” though lol.
Well we collectively operate most of those communities, so we can lol.
Movies and TV are quite different communities to be fair
Well, what does “filler” here mean to you? Dark is a tragedy where the characters in a personal sense aren’t really relevant. It’s hardly a series about ‘slice of life’ or “spend time with Jonas/Martha” to see what they get up to.
I can’t see how GoT would, but then it depends what you consider as “filler”. I don’t think Dark would either. Or Silo
Filler episodes are important because they focus on character development and they give a break from the main plot.
I guess it depends on the show. Some shows are structured to work like that. Other shows like Game of Thrones, Black Sails, just aren’t.
Do you just mean the typical laugh-track sitcom, as opposed to other types?
Can confirm. I’ve also seen Danger 5. Nothing quite like it, except for maybe their other projects.
Ah yes, I’ve seen that. Was well developed.
TV/Film are pretty different communities, but the overspill of them can be merged - to be sure.
