  • Maybe it’s a combination effort? I run pihole but I tell my friends (who aren’t ‘techy’) when best buy has a good deal. Having the 2 forms of suggestion (ads and word of mouth) may give them a boost.

One of those good deals is a 2-year controller coverage (+$10). If a controller gets stick drift (or any other damage including user-inflicted), you can exchange it at no cost if you paid the extra $10. I know stick drift and defects are typically covered under the manufacturer’s warranty but that can be a pain. I sent an elite series 2 controller in 5 times and it was never truly fixed.

With best buys paid extended coverage, I’ve turned in dualsense controller twice now (I’m on my third currently) for a total of $75 USD.

I’m not sure what you mean by ‘personal agenda.’ I’m legitimately trying to have a productive conversation so please don’t take anything said as a personal affront. We’re just trying to express the importance of herd immunity as it stands from expert consensus on the subject.

If you have any studies on herd immunity not being as important, I would love to read through them.

I understand why you trust your advisor. I’m lucky enough to be friends with someone who was a professor of infectious disease, has a PhD in virology and created a vaccine. They are my go to for anything on the subject matter. Again, anything you can share on the topic is greatly appreciated.

  • While I think Linus can be way too whiny at times. I think he handled the situation well if everything stated is true. He made it clear on his forum that they terminated the partnership/sponsorship. He could have made a ‘more public statement (e.g., a video on ltt)’ but as he stated, viewers probably would have raked him over the coals for doing so. It likely would have been perceived as ‘oh no! Honey stole money from me but gave you a discount. Woe is me.’

He still is too whiny as of the last few years but as a small business (very small; ~20 employees) owner myself, I kind of get it. I go out of my way to try to give my employees the best possible experience but sometimes people think I’m just taking advantage of them (despite me paying my full-time employees 1.5x my pre-tax take home rate). So I kind of get why he acts that way at times. Now, I don’t condone it, but I understand.

Edit I love what Steve from GN is doing. I reported the honey extension when this news initially came out. I have supported all his pro consumer reports/actions.

  • Not yet but the neighbors German shepherd did bite our late dog’s noise and cause a laceration when they were first getting introduced. I don’t blame the dog. They had just rescued it and still needed socialization (our dog was just fine and it was a controlled environment).

I also have been bitten by a German shepherd that was a family’s dog. That one actually needed stitches. But again, it was a rescue and had a terrible temperament. They had the dog for a while but it was terribly trained and they shouldn’t have had the dog as they couldn’t control it.

Our neighbor’s dog is so sweet and just needed some work. I’m not sure what happened to the other dog but I didn’t want to press chargers or anything. It’s just a dog that needed cared for by someone capable.

Despite having bad experiences with German shepherds, I would never say it’s a problem with the breed. That’s just prejudice and ignorant.
