I thought it was pretty clear that Bob Dylan was God. Did I just read too much into it?

Fuck cancer… except in this case.
He can still be a bitch.
And Kimi is also a woman’s name.
Yeah, this appears to be for entertainment purposes only.

If you’re looking for intelligent conversation with people in a niche community, you’re better off looking on Reddit than Lemmy.

A good friend of mine is an artist… he studied pottery, has actual degrees in it. He’s an incredible potter.
He and I get into heated arguments over what ‘art’ is, and who can be an ‘artist’. I claim that an artist is anyone who declares themselves to be an artist, and art is anything an artist has created and has declared it as art. He claims that an artist is only someone who has dedicated time to studying the art and has put in many hours of practice, and art can only be created by a ‘real’ artist.
I concede that someone who has studied and practiced is much more likely to create good art, but even shitty art is still art.

Such is the life of a pirate… morning is permanent and all good things will come to an end.
It’s always good to have alternatives and ensure you’re keeping up with them.

Because sometimes in life there are nuances and it is possible to mention one of those topics in a neutral manner, but the absolute hostility held here against anyone who tries to have a conversation beyond “_____ sucks ass!” is exhausting.

You’re on Lemmy… any statements about AI, Musk, trump, McConnell, etc that aren’t over-the-top against them will be met with downvotes.

And in the case of Telegram, if they did that why would anyone sign up for their premium account?
I tried using Telegram and the amount of spam I would receive was annoying, but what was even more annoying was finding out that the ‘Restrict messages from users not in your contacts’ setting is paywalled. Telegram profits off of the spammers on their network.

So… back to my question: what should they do instead?

That’s true, but sitting in a warehouse is costing someone money and I’m sure they were more than happy to sell the books even if they knew they’d eventually get destroyed.
But the other thing is, what should these companies do instead? They scraped the internet and got skewered for that. They pirated books and got in trouble for that. Now they are legally purchasing books to scan. They can’t donate or sell the books since they’ve effectively copied the book and that would get them into piracy trouble again.

The biggest loss is probably the fact that destroying the physical books removes them from circulation
And these are books that have been sitting in warehouses that haven’t been able to be sold because no one wanted them. They were removed from circulation long ago.

I don’t think it can be considered a ‘surprise attack’ when you are attacking someone that you are openly in war with.
A surprise attack would be when you deliver a massive, unprovoked, decapitation attack against a country that you are actively having productive diplomatic talks with… you know, what trump did on February, 28.

I think you hit the nail with ‘no camera’. Honestly, a camera isn’t needed… if you want a picture, use your phone. If you want a POV image or video, use a Go Pro.
Smart glasses should be a display only (well, maybe speakers too).
Glad to see they got most of the drool wiped off his face.

It’s also a reasonable number of students who would read the answer before just blindly putting it into the answer sheet.
I love Dolly also, but Dollywood and Dolly, Inc. was her monetizing herself so that she wouldn’t be poor again. She was fiercely determined that the things done in her name were controlled by her… and she unapologetically monetized her name and image.
I can’t imagine Dollywood becoming any more commercialized than it already is.
