Bots can solve captchas more accurately and more efficiently than humans. For example, I use the browser extension Captcha Buster to solve Google Captchas for me. Nowadays websites instead use proof-of-work “captchas”, which require the visitors’ devices to solve cryptographic challenges (similar to bitcoin mining). This is why they sometimes takes a few seconds to complete (even more on low end smartphone / battery saving mode). But even those only slow down, not prevent bot access.

Yes, there’re definitely bots. If Lemmy is “full of” them off harder to tell and more subjective, but I’d say no. It’s more of an issue in the larger communities, less so in niche communities. There’s fundamentally no solution to this, regardless of the platform.

No, tailscale is a VPN in the original sense, your devices act like they’re in the same network much like your WiFi printer does at home, regardless of open ports. So it works with any ports and applications, not just ssh.

You might need to change the hostname you are trying to access. If e.g. homeserver.example.com points to your public IP, it still won’t work any better. But if your devices is called “homeserver” in tailscale and on your other (client) device you point to http://homeserver/, then the tailscale DNS would resolve it to the tailscale-internal IP and it will route through tailscale.

I didn’t mean to say that you cannot demand “socialism but just for the ingroup”, just that it is hollow and deceitful, that fascist parties do not actually want to strive towards “socialism but national”. Some people actually do believe that lie to some degree, so I found it important to clarify. I don’t think you need to be told in particular.

To give more context to this (hopefully sarcastic) comment: national socialism is a misnomer, it has no intention of being any socialist. They consider socialists and communists as their primary enemy. Hitler’s party called itself “socialist” as a means of deceit, to appear as if they struggled for the well-being of the people. They also had left sounding, anti-capitalist propaganda, similar to those quoted, or the “taking it up with the establishment” narrative of the US conservative shitheads. e.g. they demanded wealth redistribution. Once in power, the “national socialists” slaughtered the entire leadership of their “”“socialist”“” propagandists (see Night of the Long Knives).

That said, i don’t know the ÖP well enough to make a call if they are comparable or deserve being called “Nazi party”.

For basic pdf manipulation, my go to choice is NAPS2. It’s a scanner app, but you can also just import pdf. It then keys you rearrange, merge, rotate, color adjust, OCR, etc. free and open source. Windows, Linux, Mac. Multilang. Comes with a CLI. Works with password protected PDF. Almost everything you can think of.

Though I can imagine if you’re trying to make money, the consistency might be worth the additional cost, rather team having to put time and material into failed batches.

The joke is on you, the username is publicly visible (so you don’t need to ask) and Lemmy automatically censors your password if you try to post it in plain text. This is actually bothersome if it’s a dictionary word, for example my password is ******** but everytime I try to write a sentence with it, like “I love it when you ******** me”, it gets posted with *s like I love it when you ******** me 😩
