    Maybe in Britain, but in the Netherlands it’s because somehow the regular taxi companies have to adhere to a different set of rules than Uber.

      That’s part of it in the US too, Uber could undercut the taxis.

      But… Uber actually showed up if you called, the cars were clean and didn’t stink.

        I can’t help but notice your last sentence is in the past tense. I guess the same happened as with all “distruptive” companies like Uber?
