When you call yourself “Verkehrswende” but protest an EV factory. You can’t make that shit up.

EVs only eliminate tail pipe pollution, otherwise they are more of the same.
They are multi ton metal boxes rolling on rubber wheels over asphalt roads, often to transport a single person. The create the same amount of traffic and waste the same amount of land on parking. Due to their heavy battery and better acceleration they create more fine particulates of wheel rubber.

EV are a Verkehrsrichtungsänderung, a Verkehrswende consists of trains and public transit.

It’s still Germany, cars are not going anywhere. Also there is much bigger car manufacturers that still produce gasoline cars. I hate Elon as much as the next guy, but protesting the one EV factory just seems silly.

But at least it’s a big step up from throwing soup at paintings.

Cars are resources intensive in general, although EVs clearly pollute less, even when taking batteries into account (lifecycle analysis), and even if electricity used to charge them isn’t renewable.

All cars company deserve some push back, but producing EVs isn’t a good reason to single out Tesla.

In this case it seems there’s another factor, which are fear for water resources due to putting too much/large factories in one place, and Elon being an asshole.

Why even comment if you didn’t read the article? Between this and the seasonal droughts, the local residents are having their water usage rationed while this factory is ignoring the town’s vote against its expansion.
