While the glasses are definitely a problem, this seems to be more about the general manager just being an utter cunt.

“At this point, my friend’s husband’s getting frustrated, and he’s like, ‘You need to give me my ID back,’” Marilyn said. “The GM threatens to call the cops on my friend’s husband and threatens to ban him.”

“OK, call the cops.” is what they should have said.

which resulted in her considering other gyms entirely.

    Considering!?

If you are ever in a situation that you need the cops; it is almost always in your best interest to be the one who calls. Cops are dumb AF and will blindly believe the reporting party unless things are extremely obvious otherwise.

Yup, the answer is always, “don’t worry, I’ll call them for you.” But only if you absolutely have to call the cops. Otherwise, don’t ever call the cops.

Yeah, the looney manager was clearly bluffing. I reckon withholding your driving licence would justify calling them. That can’t be legal. I’m kind of baffled why they left it with him in the first place.
