The US embassy in London looks like a pyramid of skeletal parts, which is extremely fitting and also chic.

A US diplomat working at the US embassy in London was accused of possessing…

Why don’t any of the stories about this say who accused him? What government, what agency? Wouldn’t you think it should be easy to get this detail crystal clear?

Imagine being told you’re on some dangerous mission in ally territory, some crazy black ops mission to defend a “US politician in danger”, and you’re not being told what the danger is, just that the UK might turn on them somehow.

So you and your little black ops squad are all riled up, being told you’re the best of the best, sent out to do some crazy black ops shit and defend Americans overseas.

You and your squad have some crazy tactical mission with the best gear, fly out of some helicopter off a carrier, grab the target, use non lethal as much as possible, swoop in bring him to safety, high fives all around and the American is saved, no lives lost.

Then later you hear he was just some pedo who almost got in trouble for being a fucking pedo

Imagine how those dudes would feel… You went from telling your family you do the crazy secret stuff to defend America that you can’t talk about, then your kids are growing up like “wait dad did you save that pedo? Weren’t you in UK at that time?”

You went from telling your family you do the crazy secret stuff to defend America that you can’t talk about, then your kids are growing up like “wait dad did you save that pedo? Weren’t you in UK at that time?”

If they’re truly black ops, they wouldn’t even tell their family that they do the crazy secret stuff. Their family would be told that they’re stationed somewhere like Japan, but then their return mail would be coming with weird mismatched postage marks from all over the world. And they wouldn’t be bragging about the job, they would be downplaying it. Lots of “Oh I mostly push papers for logistics coordination. I can’t give specifics but it’s really not that interesting.”

Like you would send a letter to them, addressed to the base in Japan that you’ve been told they’re stationed at. The military would then re-route it to wherever they are actually stationed (like the UK). But then their return mail would initially get marked from the UK, until it got intercepted and re-stamped to look like it was from Japan. Thus the weird postmarks.

Source: Uncle was suspected black ops during the height of the Cold War, and this was how his shit worked. Granddad was retired military by that point; high enough in rank to know how black ops worked, without being strictly bound to secrecy about all the work he did. Which meant he saw all of the red flags about my uncle’s weird deployments, and quickly put two and two together. He lost a lot of sleep over it, knowing that a few dudes might show up to tell him his son had been killed somewhere they couldn’t disclose, on a mission that didn’t technically exist. Or worse, that he wasn’t dead, but the military wasn’t going to do anything to rescue him. Because that would mean admitting that his mission existed in the first place.

It sounds like it was the Marines that do embassy security who raided the house and arrested the person.

Okay for their own sanity, I hope they knew they were protecting pedo assets from the start. It’d be a lot easier to shrug and says, “sure, I’ll exfiltrate the politician who may or may not be a pedo but that’s for American courts to decide” than it would be to think you’re being a hero and find out you werent told the truth

Damn, I hate it when a pedophile grabs my gun and shoots himself in the back of the head multiple times.
