dunno how. i have used it in all my jobs since i was a teenager. i start the convo about how i do it when getting hired, and it’s never a “find out” secret. some folks think “hes just bs” but nope.
wait till you start a salaried job and while on pto/fto a boss calls you and you take that day back and don’t take pto that day. ;)
here’s what i have always done:
if the dates are > 3 weeks out, i am informing. i wont be in. i inform. then i don’t show.
if the dates are < 3 weeks snd only say a long weekend: again, i inform.
if the dates are “tomorrow”: i inform.
that’s all there is to it. if your “policy” is “find coverage” never do that part. managers can manage.
Scenario 1 is a great way to get fired

remind bosses that they have jobs to do too.
Maybe a few years ago but not now, that’s a great way to spend longer looking for work.
yeah to be fair i am 8 years in on this job and it’s got “unlimited pto” which is the horseshit you think it might be.
