From Wilderness SG

At 6:30 AM this morning, before the first light reached the trees at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve Visitor Centre, this Buffy Fish Owl was already perched quietly beside the pond.

The darkness made it easy to miss, but its bright yellow eyes never stopped scanning the water.

A few minutes later, it flew off into the shadows. I thought the encounter was over.

To my surprise, it returned to the exact same perch and remained there until around 8:30 AM, patiently watching, waiting, and assessing every movement at the pond. Although it looked ready to strike at any moment, no successful dive came during those two hours. Nevertheless, observing the owl behaviour at close proximity was a bonus.

Sometimes wildlife photography isn’t about capturing the hunt… it’s about witnessing the patience behind it.
