the immediate issue is resolved, and we’re looking to extend our monitoring in the coming days to have better insights on the underlying issue, as well as alerts before it would get to the point of throwing errors.
For some reason Lemmy has been having significantly more open file handles (including e.g. connections) than usual, leading to a denial of service. At this point it’s unknown whether this is caused by a bug in Lemmy, an attack, or something else.
Is it similar to what took feddit.uk (I think) down a couple if days ago? Could it be related?
doesn’t seem to be the case, at least there is not enough information to link the two cases.
It was acting weird since yesterday for me and it was completely down for a few hours this afternoon.

You can check things like this at isup.me - it doesn’t show an error for me and I can access that instance too, so maybe it has been fixed.
Its probably your own instance (piefed.world) that’s lagging.
Do you see the behaviour if you try a different client or frontend?
