I really want to know. I could go off on a diatribe or soap box it. But I really don’t get or who benefits. I think it’s just the US government fucking us again. I stand with Iran because we had no reason to hit them in the first place. But people are dieing, world hates America now more than ever, prices are at a breaking point and so on and so forth. But really what do we gain or lose that we haven’t already.

The US backed IMEC trade deal, establishing a route from India to Saudi Arabia, to Israel, to consumers in Europe and America. The agreement was uniting traditional enemies (Israel and the rest of the Middle East) in order to make money together:

This agreement was also why the Saudi kingdom helped Israel attack Iran.
It was going to be signed some time after the October 7th attacks, which interrupted the process. So what’s happening in Gaza also relates.
Trump is now talking about putting an American controlled toll on the Hormuz Straight, not sure whether that’s an alternative to the deal or just a way to highlight it. You’d have to look into the specifics of what’s being proposed in IMEC vs Trump’s ranting.
Iran and Hamas don’t want the deal (as it benefits Israel), so their leaders wanted to destabilize it, and they have.
Since then Trump and Israel have messed it up even further with their usual lunacy, and we’re back to the usual “the middle east is a basket case” type situation.
