    If you are asking about the USA then it depends what prison tier you work at (county, state or federal) cross referenced with what tier you got charged at (same 3 tiers basically). If you work at a county jail/prison but commit a federal offense and get sentenced, tou go to federal penitentiary. Its more c9mmon to go up not down. If you are at a federal lever occupationally, your offenses will likely get you aentenced at the federal level. I think itd be pretty hard to go from federally employed but sentenced at a county level. Its just not how our penal code of corruption works.

    Youd never get to keep your job while serving time. At least not at a CO level. There are scrnarios where, for example, a prison fire marshal could get charged and sentenced to the se prispn they worked at and also join the inmate fire marshal program/job they usually offer in exchange for time off sentence. But you def dont go home and you def dont keep your pre-felony salary
