My guess is a lot of them don’t live in the US and/or are russian state actors. Putin is playing “divide and conquer” since quite a while now.
That’s how you get the impression of high online support and low voting results.
But please don’t call them “leftist”. Support of Russia and China is authoritarian, the “horseshoe-theorie” is BS. The only thing the left and the right have in common is that they are both heavily targeted by russian propaganda and that’s how you get tankies. The best way to think about them is as Russian state propagandist infiltrating left parties to use them for their goals.
