Right, yeah, i cant run it then either. I just assumed it would have a linux build. I wouldn’t really want to use it with wine, I prefer native programs

Love the motto. I did look around a bit and it seems that the was some controversy a few years ago with them. Some headlines suggesting development finished. Are you just using a couple of years old build and it’s not breaking, or are there actual updates still?
Yeah, I think YouTube will be the last Google service I let go also, a lot of content I enjoy is the exclusively there as far as I know. But I have also decided to get rid of Google, meta and such as thoroughly as I can, so I do hope some combination of nebula, peertube and/or whatever else google free I can find will suffice. I am mostly annoyed by the similar things you were when it comes to yt. Thanks for the Tom Scott shoutout, I wasn’t aware he started making new stuff. You’d think YouTube algorithms would let me know lol.

I thought Winamp was no more? Used to love it way back.
Alright, thanks for taking the time to comment. As I said, I’m pretty much already going to give it a go, but hearing people’s thoughts on it is appreciated. The thing about actually knowing you’re contributing to paying the people whose content you like does sound appealing.
I have been on the edge for a while now, I’ll probably end up at least trying it after my vacation. Do you really think it’s worth the subscription price?

We almost had ships made of mostly ice a while ago, but it never took off https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Habakkuk

Most stuff worked great out of the box for me. I had some quirks with power management, specifically for my wifi card, resulting in bad wifi, but there are so many resources and so many people willing to help out that it was not even a big problem to solve. I haven’t used Ubuntu, I am on arch, but the great thing is, most problems and solutions don’t really care what distro you’re on, so I am no stranger to ubuntu forums when researching something. And as cliché as it is to recommended, the arch wiki is an amazing source of information, so definitely give it a look.
Looks promising. It would work fine if I don’t want to login with Google? Does it run ads like YouTube? I see they plan to support a couple hosts, which is cool, one application for all media streaming.
